Studio Designer launched StudioPay, their in-house payments offering, in 2023 on a PayFac-as-a-Service platform. Within the first year they encountered repeated issues of their clients’ funds being held for unreasonable hold periods due to the processor’s risk controls. In addition, merchant approval during the onboarding process would sometimes be delayed by a week or more.
Studio Designer decided to move forward with Stripe Connect and FNBO after evaluating a number of potential partners. Stripe would solve much of their pain allowing full control of the onboarding process for card processing. In addition, FNBO would allow for fine grain control of ACH processing and the ability to support high ticket transactions.
With processing partners in place, they were now faced with an important question - do they spend months rebuilding their payment infrastructure, or is there a more efficient path?
That’s the timeline from signing the Stripe Connect contract in the Spring of 2024 to onboarding and processing in production.
Studio Designer's clients now have full transparency on funding timelines and tracking of deposits. The transaction and payout details are incorporated seamlessly into the Studio Designer platform so their clients can access all of their data through a single interface.
The innovation doesn’t stop there. The new version of StudioPay with Stripe + dhango was so successful they will be able to launch additional features like point of sale with minimal effort.
